Elina Lex is a media artist based in Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal, interested in immersive media technologies (XR/AR/VR), digital archiving, and place-based digital storytelling. Her creative projects have ranged from 360 VR, AR and locative sound walks, and 3D scanning and photogrammetry projects often focused on themes of gentrification and urban change, sensory ethnographies, living archives and heritage futures. Her projects have been presented at the Artist Project Toronto with Radiance VR, the Festival of Live Digital Art Kingston, The Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University, and 4th Space at Concordia University. Elina is currently a PhD Candidate in Communication Studies at Concordia University and is an active member of the Feminist Media Lab and the Immersive Storytelling Studio at the Milieux Centre for Arts and Technology.

Attached is a sample image of a scan: I'm using polycam + record 3D to take scans of different plants/species, and hoping to bring them into Blender to play with textures/possibly painting over them.

In AR, I picture them as a few 3D installations/sculptures embedded in the landscape that a user can walk towards and hear different soundscapes: ravine/ flowing water, electricity sounds, railway sounds -- to engage with the sonic histories/ruderal dimensions of place through sound.

This work later evolved into an immersive VR experience for the V/Art app in 2018 and gained international recognition when showcased in Madrid during the Hybrid Art Fair in 2019.

In 2021, Tru ventured into the dynamic world of NFTs, directly connecting with collectors online, where she sells animations and still images.
